Wisdom Tooth Removal Procedure

Dr. Galea or Dr. Hammon will walk you through every step of your procedure beforehand so you know what to expect. Prior to your oral surgery, we will have chosen the right anesthesia or sedation for your needs. After we administer the anesthesia and you are comfortable, your surgeon will begin extracting the wisdom teeth.

Wisdom teeth that have erupted through the gums are removed using forceps, similar to a standard tooth extraction. If wisdom teeth are impacted, your surgeon will make a small incision in the gum tissue to access the tooth, then remove it. After all of the wisdom teeth have been removed, we will place dissolvable sutures if necessary and your procedure will be complete.

You can expect to rest in our office after the procedure until the sedation wears off and you are ready to be driven home by your prearranged driver.
