About Dr. Hammon
Dr. Hammon was accepted into the prestigious Health Professions Scholarship Program for the Air Force during his first year of dental school. He then applied for and was accepted to one of only two active-duty Air Force Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery programs at Travis Air Force Base in California, where he was stationed for 5 years and completed the residency program in 2019.
Following residency, Dr. Hammon served at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois for 4 years, where he practiced full-scope oral and maxillofacial surgery. He served as the training director for the Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency and as the Chief of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery during that time. Dr. Hammon was also an Assistant Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery with the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences (USUHS) and an Adjunct Associate Professor at Saint Louis University, where he taught and trained ENT residents in maxillofacial trauma. He joined Northern Nevada Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery in July 2023.
Dr. Hammon is staffed at Renown Hospital in Reno, where he treats emergency cases. He finds the most rewarding aspect of his profession to be the ability to transform patients' lives, whether by relieving pain, addressing anxiety through sedation, or correcting functional and cosmetic issues.
Nervous patients can expect a caring and attentive approach from Dr. Hammon. He takes the time to listen to their concerns and provides a comforting environment. With his expertise in IV sedation, he ensures a comfortable experience for those with high anxiety.
Education & Residency
Dr. Hammon graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno with a degree in Biology with Distinction in 2010. He went on to obtain his DMD degree from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas School of Dental Medicine in 2014, and graduated cum laude. He then completed his Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery residency at the David Grant Medical Center at Travis Air Force Base in 2019.
